This month’s new releases are as follows: payer book in Ilocano of Foronda Collection held by the Center for Southeast Asian Studies; Chinese classic “Shuo wen jie zi xi zhuan” (説文解字繋傳 40卷校勘記3卷) held by the Graduate School of Letters and “Sasakike den” (佐々貴家傳) held by the Main Library.

Kyoto University Rare Materials Digital Archive marks the 3rd Anniversary since its launch on December 1st, 2017. Our content increased from 394,069 images of 3,719 titles to 1,613,314 images of 19,427 titles.
We will continue to promote open access to rare materials Kyoto University owns.

70 titles from Daiso-bon owned by the Main Library newly digitized and released

Seventy titles from Daiso-bon owned by the Main Library have been newly digitized and released. Daiso-bon is a collection of books formerly owned by Daiso (大惣), a book lender run by Sohachi Onoya (大野屋惣八) and his family in Nagoya from the middle of the Edo period to the middle of the Meiji period. As of November 11, 2020, the Digital Archive provides 1,404,838 images of 17,758 titles.

These are rare materials that cannot be found elsewhere, including fine botanical illustrations and manuscript research records. As of October 9, 2020, the Digital Archive provides 1,372,575 images of 17,663 titles.

Two rare materials belonging to the Graduate School of Letters have been digitized and released in the Digital Archive: Da ming sheng tu (大明省圖) and Shuo wen jie zi xi zhuan (説文解字繋傳 40卷). As of October 1, 2020, the Digital Archive provides 1,365,858 images of 17,642 titles.
