Kyoto University Rare Materials Digital Archive is Kyoto University’s platform to make digital images of rare primary sources it owns Open Access. Don’t you have images at your hand that you have no means to publicize or have difficulty in continuing managing your own website of digital images? Scope of the Digital Archive

Kyoto University Rare Materials Digital Archive can register digital images that are:

  • Two dimensional duplication of primary sources Kyoto University owns
       and
  • Releasable on the Internet with all the relevant rights expired or cleared.

 

Process to make digital images OA

no01Check that the images are within the scope of the Digital Archive

Please check in advance that the images are "duplication of primary sources Kyoto University owns" and "releasable on the Internet". Decide your conditions of reuse one month before the release of your data. Refer to this page for details of reuse conditions.
 

no02Check the state of the data and plan a schedule

Please send the data at your hand (images and relevant data including explanation of the materials) to Kyoto University Library Network. We will check the state of the data - its format, file names and directory structure, identify what data should be newly created and added, and plan a schedule of the whole process.
 

no03Create additional data and convert data

Kyoto University Library Network will create, if any, necessary additional data (metadata to each material/image) and convert all the data in format, file name and directory structure to prepare for the release of the data.
 

no04Sign the agreement to deposit the data in the Digital Archive

Kyoto University Library Network and the head of the library which owns the original rare materials will sign the agreement to deposit the data in the Digital Archive.
 

no05Release the data and update the news

The data will be released in Kyoto University Rare Materials Digital Archive and update the news. The metadata of the rare materials are searchable in Kyoto University's OPAC KULINE or OCLC's WorldCat.
